Come out for GIVE 2009! This all-ages benefit concert at Backspace will feature a eclectic line-up of performers, including a rare solo acoustic performance by Brent Knopf (of Menomena) as Ramona Falls, along with Calvin Johnson (of Halo Benders and Beat Happening), and the euphoric accordion-wielding troubadour Jason Webley.
For proof that this concert will rock, check out this YouTube video of Halo Benders. Also, here’s an interview with Jason Webley. We all know Menomena at this point, right? Wiki them. Knopf’s pro bono performance is sure to draw a crowd.
The proceeds from GIVE 2009 will benefit JOIN, a local non-profit that reaches out to homeless populations in Portland. Did you know 16,000 people in Portland are experiencing some form of homelessness? JOIN finds creative ways to work one-on-one with homeless folks, whether its giving free haircuts or transitioning people into permanent housing.
Coordinating the whole shin-dig is Spectrum Culture, a smart, sassy, and very savvy on-line zine (that you should be reading) covering music, film, and food.
Rock out and feel good about it. Just $12 gets you in. Get tickets here. GIVE, JOIN, and do it NOW. Sure to sell out!
